NovaEduc@ 2007 Attracts EducExchange

More than 200 distance education professionals from over 15 countries in Latin America and Spain will travel to Nova Southeastern University to attend the Second Annual Nova Educ@ Conference from April 2 – 4.

The conference, titled Nova Educ@ 2007: Mas Allá del Salón de Clases:
Los Nuevos Ambientes de Aprendizaje, (Beyong the Classroom: New Learning Environments) is conducted entirely in Spanish and organized by the Office of International Affairs of NSU’s Fischler School of Education and Human Services. The goal of the conference is to provide educators and administrators with an opportunity to share their knowledge and professional experiences in the fields of technology and distance education.

The program includes workshops, roundtables discussions and research sessions, presented by NSU faculty as well as administrators and faculty from Latin America and Spain. The participants will be welcomed to NSU and FSEHS by NSU President Ray Ferrero Jr., and FSEHS Provost Dr. H. Wells Singleton, at NSU’s Main Campus and at the Fischler School of Education and Human Services campus in North Miami Beach.

The conference provides the Spanish speaking professionals from these countries and those here in the United States with an opportunity to network, exchange teaching techniques and share their expertise in their native language. NSU-FSESE conducts several degree programs in Spanish in Latin America, and continues to expand its international programs in Latin America and in other countries in the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.

Last year, educators from a number of universities in Latin America and Spain participated in the conference including the following:

  • Universidad  Nacional  Autónoma de México (UNAM)
  • Universidad de Guadalajara, México
  • Universidad de Guanajuato, México
  • Universidad Abierta de Cataluña, España
  • Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia de España (UNED)
  • Universidad de La Laguna, Tenerife, España
  • Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV)
  • Universidad Pontificia Católica del Perú
  • Universidad de La Sabana, Bogotá, Colombia.
