President of Siemens Corporation to Speak at NSU’s Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship
Fort Lauderdale-Davie, Fla. -- Nova Southeastern University’s
H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship announced that
its Distinguished Lecture Series will feature George Nolen, president
and chief executive officer of Siemens Corporation on Monday, February
13. The event will be held at 10:30 a.m., Knight Auditorium, Carl DeSantis
Building,NSU’s main campus.
Nolen, 49, became president and chief executive officer of Siemens Corporation
on January 1, 2004. He heads the $16.6 billion U.S. company, which represents
more than 20 percent of the global parent company’s revenues, and
manages 70,000 employees. The company is a leader in healthcare technology
and information management, power generation and transmission, automation
and controls, lighting, information and communications technology, transportation,
and building technologies. In his current position, Nolen is also chairman
of the board of Siemens One, the company’s U.S. cross-selling and
solutions arm.

Prior to his current position, Nolen served as president and CEO of
Siemens Information and Communication Networks Inc. (now, Siemens Communications,
Inc.), which provides integrated voice and data networks and solutions
for telecommunications carriers, cable providers, and enterprise customers.
From 1998 to 2002, he served as president and CEO of Siemens Enterprise
Networks L.L.C., and was responsible for successfully building the enterprise
business into a cohesive, customer-focused solutions provider. In doing
so, Nolen was instrumental in growing Siemens' Worldwide Enterprise into
a flourishing, more profitable, multi-billion dollar business.
Nolen joined Siemens in 1982 as a member of the company’s sales
force. He went on to serve as senior vice president of sales and service
for Siemens Business Communication Systems, Inc.
He is a member of The Business Roundtable, where he serves on the organization’s
Security Task Force (Washington, DC) and he is also a board member of
the United States Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member and representative
of Siemens on the NYC 2012—the organization seeking to host the
2012 Olympic Games in New York City. . Additionally, George is a member
of the Board of Trustees of the New York Hall of Science.
Nolen is a graduate of Virginia Tech. He and his wife Michele are actively
involved in supporting numerous children’s organizations, including
Volunteer Emergency Families and Our Neighbor’s Child, as well
as youth sports programs.
Established in 1972, the Huizenga School offers a revolutionary curriculum
centered on value creation and practical knowledge within a convenient
format for working professionals. The faculty includes outstanding educators
and researchers who share their scholarship and expertise in such fundamental
areas as accounting, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, health services
administration, human resources, marketing, and sports and wellness. In
addition to undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral classes, the Huizenga
School also houses the Hudson Institute of Entrepreneurship and Executive
Education and The International Institute for Franchise Education delivering
non-degree programs, symposia, seminars and forums for professionals.
