Hollywood Squares Comes to Nova
Southeastern University for 14th Consecutive Year; ‘Squares’ to
Dress as College Mascots
FORT LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, FL— Twelve of Nova
Southeastern University’s squares—er, faculty and staff members—will
fill nine “actual” squares, as NSU’s Office of Student
Affairs hosts the 14th Annual Hollywood Squares on Friday, April 1, at
5:30 p.m.
A crowd of more than 800 is expected to attend
the games at NSU’s RecPlex, which will be played on the actual
original Hollywood Squares set from when the television game show was
shot on Hollywood Beach in the 1980s. This year’s theme—“A ‘Knight’ of
a New Mascot”— sets the tone for the unveiling of NSU’s
new mascot, which will be revealed in the fall. Thus, each of the squares
will be dressed as his/her favorite college mascot.
Hosting the program ala John Davidson is NSU’s
Brad Williams, dean of student affairs.
NSU students will make up the 12 contestants
of the six games (one male, one female each game). They’ll compete
for game prizes, and “secret square” prizes that include:
first prize, round-trip airfare and accommodations for two, along with
$200 spending money, from Fort Lauderdale to Las Vegas for four days,
three nights; second prize, a Carnival cruise for two valued at $1,000;
third prize, 10 game tickets and a tailgate party for the Miami Dolphins’ regular
season opener.
In-between games the winners of Thursday night’s
NSU Idol(s) contest will perform, which include Greek fraternity and
sorority members, club and organizations members singing and dancing.
NSU’s Rec Plex is located on Nova Southeastern
University’s main campus, on the grounds behind the Mailman Hollywood
Building. For more information on NSU’s Hollywood Squares, call
