Did American Media Fail to Respond to Genocide of European Jews?
Author of Book about The New York Times and the Holocaust to Speak at NSU

Fort Lauderdale-Davie, FL — Journalist and professor Laurel Leff, author of a new book about the media and the Holocaust, will discuss and sign copies of her book at a public talk on the main campus of Nova Southeastern University on Thursday, April 7, 6:30 p.m., Carl DeSantis Building. Sponsored by NSU’s Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, the free event is open to the public, and will be held in the Knight Auditorium of the Carl DeSantis Building.

Buried by The Times: The Holocaust and America's Most Important Newspaper ( publish date: April 25 by Cambridge University Press), is an in-depth look at how The New York Times failed in its coverage of the fate of European Jews from 1939–1945. The book examines how decisions made at the newspaper ultimately resulted in the minimizing and misunderstanding of the tragic genocide.

Before joining the faculty at Northeastern University, Leff was a journalist for 18 years, first as a reporter for The Wall Street Journal and The Miami Herald and then as an editor for American Lawyer Media and The Hartford Courant. She has published scholarly articles in Studies in Law, Politics and Society, the Harvard International Journal of Press/Politics and American Jewish History.
