National Business Publication Names Nsu Ceo "Heavy Hitter" In Health Care

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL - Robert S. Oller, D.O., chief executive officer of Nova Southeastern University's Division of Clinical Operations, has been named a "Heavy Hitter" in Health Care by the South Florida Business Journal in their special January 23-26 issue.

Over 30 men and women in the field of health care from Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties, have been named "Heavy Hitters" by the journal. According to the article, nominations were invited from the public, with the editors choosing the final selection. Inclusion was based on prominence, achievements and community involvement.

Dr. Oller is responsible for overseeing the clinical operations of ten colleges and programs providing health care services in 15 different clinical operations. The clinic programs at NSU last year provided more than 300,000 patient visits while providing clinical training for 1,400 pre-and post-graduate students. Dr. Oller was also instrumental in developing and implementing one of the nations few formal education curriculums in managed health care for students in the College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Oller practiced family medicine in North Miami Beach for more than 20 years, during that time he held many hospital positions and political appointments. He was also an advisor to the Governor's council for fraudulent medical activities under Gov. Reuben Askew and was a founding member of the Board of Directors and executive committee for the Florida Medical Quality Assurance Inc. He is credited with forming the first physician hospital-organized PPO for Florida in the 1980s, and in 1986, he co-founded and served as vice president and chief medical officer of Family Health Plan of Florida, which was purchased by Physician Corporation of America in 1993. Additionally, Dr. Oller serves as trustee, VP chairman or treasurer of more than 20 organizations.

Other Broward County "Heavy Hitters" include a CEO of a pharmaceutical company; President and CEO's of local hospitals; a medical malpractice attorney; the founder of a fitness chain, and the CEO of a managed care system.
