University School Faculty Members Selected to Be Advanced Placement Readers for College Board AP Program

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL— Linda Winrow and Ted Daniel, faculty members at University School of Nova Southeastern University, have been selected to be AP readers for the 2003 College Board Advanced Placement Program, it was recently announced.

Winrow (head of University School’s high school English department) and Daniel (both a World History and Economics and U.S. Government high school teacher) will join over 6,000 college faculty and AP teachers from around the world this June to evaluate and score about four million free-response answers.

In May, more than one million outstanding students worldwide will take more than 1.6 million AP examinations in 19 subject areas. The exams contain multiple-choice and free-response questions (either essay or problem-solving) that provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their mastery of rigorous, college-level coursework.

Winrow and Daniel will join other readers to: Participate in discussions regarding understanding and/or refining scoring standards, learn to apply a scoring standard consistently, and use those standards to score student responses; provide input to, and receive feedback from, members of the AP Development Committee about their discipline; and discuss achievement, assessment, and teaching strategies with other college and AP high school faculty.

University School of Nova Southeastern University is a private pre-kindergarten through 12th grade college preparatory school located on the campus of Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida. The school was founded in 1971 as a university-based laboratory school, and has grown into one of the largest, most successful independent college preparatory schools in Florida.
