Nova Southeastern University’s Law Center to Host Civil Liberties V. Societal Security Debate This Wednesday
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL— Whether or not civil liberties should be sacrificed for societal security will be the topic of an Oxford-style debate—where the audience determines the outcome—when the Business and Professions Division of the United Jewish Community of Broward County, in cooperation with Nova Southeastern University and its Shepard Broad Law Center, hosts a discussion this Wednesday, March 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center at NSU's Library, Research, and Information Technology Center.
NSU constitutional law professor John Anderson—a past presidential candidate in 1981—headlines the list of debaters. Also appearing with him are: Art Teitelbaum, Southeast Area Director of the Anti-Defamation League; John Loftus, a former federal prosecutor and author of The Secret War Against the Jews; Bruce Goslin, who spent 14 years as a foreign intelligence officer with the CIA; Jeffrey Sloman, acting deputy chief of the criminal division of the U.S. Attorney's Office; and Bruce Udolf, a partner in the law firm of Ruden McClosky Smith Schuster & Russell, P.A., who served as associate counsel during the Watergate investigation.
The moderator will be Broward Circuit Court Judge Ron Rothschild.
“This will be a discussion by well-informed and excellent speakers of a very timely and important issue,” said attorney Mark Grant of Ruden McClosky, who is chairing the event.
NSU's Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center is located at 3100 Ray Ferrero, Jr. Blvd., on NSU's main campus. The Business and Professions Division, which acts as a business network for Broward's Jewish community, hosts educational programs, as well as networking and fundraising events, throughout the year.
