Civil Liberties, Societal Security to Be Discussed at NSU
Should civil liberties be sacrificed for societal security?
That tough question will be the topic of an Oxford Style Debate - where the audience determines the outcome - when the Business and Professions Division (B&P) of the United Jewish Community of Broward County, in cooperation with Nova Southeastern University and the Shepard Broad Law Center, invite the business community to a hear the different sides of this issue, Wednesday, March 26. The debate will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Nova University's Miniaci Performing Arts Center, 3100 Ray Ferraro Blvd., Davie.
The press is invited to attend, but should plan on arriving a half hour early to set up. Press credentials are required.
Debaters include Art Teitelbaum, Southeast Area Director of the Anti-Defamation League; John Loftus, a former federal prosecutor and author of The Secret War Against the Jews; John Anderson, a past presidential candidate and constitutional law professor; Bruce Goslin, who spent 14 years as a foreign intelligence officer with the CIA; Jeffrey Sloman, acting deputy chief of the criminal division of the U.S. Attorney's Office; and Bruce Udolf, a partner in the law firm of Ruden McClosky Smith Schuster & Russell, P.A. who served as associate counsel during the Whitewater investigation.
The moderator is Broward Circuit Court Judge Ron Rothschild.
"This will be a discussion by well-informed and excellent speakers of a very timely and important issue," said attorney Mark Grant, of Ruden McClosky, who is chairing the event.
The B&P Division, which acts as a business network for Broward's Jewish community, hosts educational programs, as well as networking and fundraising events, throughout the year.
