Nova Southeastern University's Board of Trustees Approve Name
Change for College in Health Professions Division
College of Allied Health Renamed College
of Allied Health and Nursing
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL- With the approval of Nova Southeastern University
Health Professions Division Chancellor Morton Terry, Executive Vice
Chancellor and Provost Fred Lippman, R.Ph., Ed.D. recommended to NSU
President Ray Ferrero, Jr. that the College of Allied Health be renamed
the College of Allied Health and Nursing. The NSU Board of Trustees
approved the recommendation during the March 24th meeting.
According to Lippman, "The nursing program is evolving quickly
towards a generic four year status and requires the full attention of
an educational administrative oversight. After looking at national models,
we concluded that the program was best suited to be included with the
College of Allied Health under the auspices of Dean Richard Davis."
Acknowledging the rapid growth, Richard Davis, PA-C, Ed.D, said, "All
of the departments and programs within the college welcome the Nursing
Program. The addition of nursing contributes greatly to fulfilling the
mission to serve and meet the needs of our community."
The College of Allied Health and Nursing at NSU is part of the Health
Professions Division, which also offers programs through the College
of Dental Medicine, College of Medical Sciences, College of Optometry,
College of Osteopathic Medicine, and College of Pharmacy.
