Explore the Life of One of America’s Most Notable Presidents – Series Starts June 1

As part of year-long Abraham Lincoln bicentennial celebration, join the Alvin Sherman Library’s discussion group and get 5 FREE booklets

FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – Why wait for Independence Day to show your patriotic spirit? Celebrate early by joining Lincoln enthusiasts this summer as they read excerpts of essays, speeches, poems, plays, fiction, and nonfiction about Abraham Lincoln, his life, his achievements, and his legacy at the Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Technology Center at Nova Southeastern University (NSU).

The Lincoln in American Memory Reading and Discussion Group will meet at Alvin Sherman Library, 3100 Ray Ferrero, Jr. Blvd. in Davie, throughout June and July. Participants will receive a FREE booklet from the Lincoln in America Memory Project at each meeting. The schedule includes:

• Lincoln as Literary Genius: Thursday, June 11 at 2 p.m.
• Lincoln: Legacy of the Great Emancipator: Thursday, June 25 at 2 p.m.
• Lincoln as the American Redeemer: Thursday, July 2 at 2 p.m.
• Lincoln as Self-Made Man: Thursday, July 16 at 2 p.m.
• Lincoln and His Critics: Thursday, July 30 at 2 p.m.

The Lincoln in American Memory Reading and Discussion Group is part of the Alvin Sherman Library’s array of programs, lectures and exhibits throughout 2009 to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln.
