FT. LAUDERDALE (DAVIE), FLA. - The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) joins the Oscar Thomas Foundation in presenting “Celebrating Our Differences” Wednesday, April 16. Inspired by novelist and poet Audre Lorde and prolific artist Oscar Thomas, “Celebrating Our Differences” showcases artistic works of local high school students demonstrating diversity through visual , performing and language arts.

For participating students, their day of activities will include campus tours and interactive workshops presented by faculty members from the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences.

A reception and awards ceremony as well as an exhibition of the students’ artistic creations will be held from 7:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. in the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center located on NSU’s main campus in Davie at 3100 Ray Ferrero, Jr. Blvd. The public is invited to attend. For more information or to RSVP, contact (954) 262-8068.

A well known billboard and mural artist, Thomas cared deeply about the needs of children, young adults, senior citizens, and educational causes. The Foundation carries forward Thomas’ vision of empowering children, young adults, and senior citizens through art, education, and community service by helping them to understand that they are not only a unique work of art, but an equally valued member of society.
