Distinguished Lecture Series Presents Wal-Mart Executive John E. DiBenedetto
FORT LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – Students, Faculty, Staff, and Special Guests are invited to The H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship’s Distinguished Lecture Series featuring John E. DiBenedetto, Vice-President of Learning and Development for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. DiBenedetto will speak on the topic, “The Transformation of Wal-Mart’s Training Into the World’s Largest Corporate University,” from 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 18 in the Julian and Ellen Knight Lecture Hall of the Carl DeSantis Building.
DiBenedetto became Vice-President, Learning and Development, of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. in 2005. He is responsible for field operations training for 1.3 million associates in more than 3,700 stores nationwide. Prior to his position at Wal-Mart, John was Sr. V.P., Dir. of Human Resources, for Wachovia Securities, Inc. supporting the Global Corporate Bank’s worldwide associates, Wachovia Securities, Inc., New York, as first V.P., Director of Prudential Securities Financial Advisor Program, retail brokerage which included: recruitment, development, compensation, performance management, and reward/recognition programs in 1,266 retail branch offices.
Following Wachovia’s acquisition by First Union Banks in 2001, John joined specialty retailer Limited Brands, Inc. in Columbus Ohio where he first led the Leadership and Organization Development for the Bath & Body Works retail stores division. Later John was asked to lead the company’s Talent Development Center of Excellence. John also has a real estate holding company DiBenedetto Ventures, LLC.
DiBenedetto served as Adjunct Professor of Management at six southeastern universities since 1984, and he is currently actively teaching online graduate and undergraduate management and human resources courses for NSU’s Huizenga School of Business. John is a member of the Society for H.R. Management, Amer. Society for Training & Development, International Society for Performance & Improvement, and Org. Development Network.
John holds a BBA in Marketing from FAU’s College of Business, and an MBA and DBA from NSU’s Huizenga School of Business & Entrepreneurship.
