Nova Southeastern University Hosts over 2,000 Kids during Residential Summer Camps Cheerleaders, USA Baseball, Volleyball and more head to South Florida in June and July

FORT LAUDERDALE- DAVIE, FL- The main campus of Nova Southeastern University (NSU) will be vibrant with teenage activity this summer as more than 2,000 students from across the country attend leadership, arts and athletic camps while residing in the only intercollegiate residence halls in Broward County. Organizations that will use NSU’s campus for residential camps and workshops include USA Volleyball, USA Baseball, D-1 Football and the Universal Cheerleaders Association.
In addition to the various summer camps that will populate the residence halls, NSU will host hundreds of incoming students during the Undergraduate Orientation sessions being held throughout the summer.
Summer officially begins on NSU’s campus June 5 – 9, when the Universal Cheerleaders Association brings more than 270 high school cheerleaders from all over the country to hone their skills at Cheer Camp. This is the first summer that NSU is hosting the 17 squads.
Are you ready for some football? High school football players, stay on campus during D-1 Football Camp, which runs June 7-19. Campers will learn proper fundamentals and the latest techniques, while being coached and evaluated by both high school and college coaches. The three sessions include Skills, Linemen and Junior Varsity. Approximately 250 boys are expected to attend. NSU has been hosting D-1 Football Camp since 2002.
June 12 – 26, NSU will host Lead America, a youth leadership organization, who will bring more than 200 middle and high school students for “CSI: Forensics & Crime Scene Investigation,” to learn about forensic science disciplines, educational requirements and training.

June 18 – July 10, thirty-five creative students between 13-19 years old will come to campus to attend the Lovewell Teen Program where they will conceive, write, compose, choreograph, design and perform an original piece of theatre with music. The workshop is sponsored by Lovewell Institute for the Creative Arts.

June 30 – July 3, MA Dance Camp will bring teen dancers to Dance Camp to learn new moves in jazz, funk, hip-hop, high kick, military, modern, and lyrical dance styles. Exceptional dancers will have the opportunity to audition for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and Capital One Bowl Halftime show. MA Dance is headquartered in Plano, Texas.

July 13 – 18, USA Volleyball’s High Performance Program will be held for young volleyball athletes who aspire to reach the elite level of their sport and who dream to one day represent the USA on the National Men’s or Women’s Volleyball Team. Approximately 250 athletes are expected to attend the intensive week-long training.

July 15-22, the South Florida Leadership Training Camp is designed to train rising high school leaders.  More than 300 high school student leaders from throughout the state will stay on the NSU campus and attend sessions at various facilities.  The purpose of the camp is to give high school students the tools to improve their leadership ability and to do a better job of leading their peers next year.   During the camp, students will be challenged to solve problems, develop teams, make decisions, and undertake projects. The camp has been at NSU since 1998.
