SHSS Open House Features Testimonials From Students on June 4

FORT LAUDERDALE , FL —The Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences ( SHSS ) at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) is hosting an Open House on Friday, June 4, 2004 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. This event will be held in the Alumni Hall Auditorium on the East Campus of Nova Southeastern University, 3100 SW 9th Avenue , Fort Lauderdale , FL.

At SHSS students learn skills that improve human relationships. Unique and talented students study and practice approaches and solutions to challenges facing individuals, families, groups, communities, organizations, and nations. Past and current students from a variety of SHSS programs will highlight the evening by offering testimonials. One such former student, Arlene Brett Gordon, described her experience by saying, “I am a clinician, researcher, teacher, and supervisor because of NSU's program. My degree taught me to think with the global perspective my work requires.”

Because the faculty will be available for both group and one-on-one discussions during the Open House, guests can learn in detail about the variety of interdisciplinary programs SHSS offers. These range from doctorate and master's degrees, to graduate certificates in conflict analysis and resolution, family therapy, cross-disciplinary studies, peace studies, college student personnel, family systems health care, and family studies. Several joint programs are also available in conjunction with other NSU schools.

SHSS programs address vitally important needs in human relationships. They offer training in interdisciplinary, multi-professional, and multi-cultural practices that apply to many fields, yet each program offers specializations that give SHSS graduates unique competitive skills for stimulating career choices.

The school's curricula blend theory, practice, and research in convenient courses of study available in evening classes and often online. Additionally, The Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences is home to two academic journals: "Peace and Conflict Studies," and "The Qualitative Report.”

Whether your interest in social relations is interpersonal, familial, organizational, municipal, or international in scope, you will find an opportunity to pursue career goals that are personally and professionally rewarding.
