Nova Southeastern Women's Rowing Team Selected to Compete In 2004 Ncaa Division II Women's Rowing National Championships
Knights Varsity Eight to Compete for Individual National Championship Next Weekend in California

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL- - The Nova Southeastern University women's rowing team will continue their magical inaugural season, as the NCAA Division II Women's Rowing Committee has selected the Knights to compete in the 2004 NCAA Division II Women's Rowing Championships.

The championships will be held May 28-30 at CSUS Aquatic Center in Sacramento, California. California State University, Sacramento, will serve as host.

NSU received an at-large bid for their varsity eight crew and was one of just six teams chosen among NCAA Division II institutions nationwide. Also joining the Knights in Sacramento will be Sunshine State Conference rivals Barry University (South region) and Florida Tech (at-large).

The other three NCAA DII teams selected were Western Washington University (West region), Mercyhurst College (East region) and Humboldt State University (at-large team).

The two at-large schools will field one boat of eight rowers and compete for individual honors while the four regional representatives will compete for the team championship and are required to field one boat of eight rowers and one boat of four rowers.

The selection of teams and individual boats were based on eligibility and availability of student-athletes; head-to-head competition; late-season performance; regional rankings; regional championship results; results against teams already selected; results against regionally ranked teams; and results against common opponents.

Nova Southeastern, under the direction of Head Coach John Gartin and Assistant Coach Laura Wilhelm, have made an improbable run in the Knights first season of competition as women's rowing was one of three new sports introduced for competition in the 2003-04 school year.
