NSU Partners with Miami-Dade County Public Schools to House Parent Resource Centers
FORT LAUDERDALE , FL- Nova Southeastern University has partnered with Miami-Dade County Public Schools' Parent ACCESS District and Title I Offices, and t he Florida School Choice Resource to house two Parent Resource Centers. Parent Resource Centers are designed to provide parents and family members with a place to visit and receive information and services in order to become more involved in their children's education.
The Parent Resource Centers will be located at NSU's Fischler Graduate School of Education and Human Services, 1750 NE 167 Street, North Miami Beach and NSU's Student Educational Center, 8585 SW 124 Avenue, Kendall.
The Centers will provide access to the following:
- Access to computers and a list of links to gather information on school choice, educational options, learning resources
- Miami-Dade County Public Schools district information
- Books, videos, and articles on student learning, family involvement, and educational options
- Information on the FCAT testing program
- Information on federal No Child Left Behind legislation and its implications for students and parents
- Educational events such as workshops and trainings on family involvement.
