Alvin Sherman Library at NSU Hosts Discussion of
Carolina Garcia-Aguilera's 'Bitter Sugar' for Books Over Biscotti Meeting

FORT LAUDERDALE , FL – Avid readers and book lovers can join Books Over Biscotti, a monthly book discussion group, at the group’s next meeting on Thursday, July 29, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in the Connections Café, at Nova Southeastern University’s Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center. The discussion is free and open to the public.

This month, participants will discuss Carolina Garcia-Aguilera's sixth novel, “Bitter Sugar,” set in Miami's Cuban-American community. In this selection, private investigator Lupe Solano is a both stunning and cunning private-eye who sometimes has trouble balancing her double identity of a daughter still living at home and an emancipated single woman. Knowing her beloved father disapproves of her career, Lupe jumps at the chance to help her Papi's oldest friend, Tio Ramon, when a buyout offer for his confiscated sugar plantations in Cuba is quickly followed by the disappearance of his nephew. The plot thickens when Ramon is discovered at the murder scene of his nephew, and it's up to Lupe to save not only Papi's friend, but her own life as well.

The Alvin Sherman Library is located on NSU’s main campus at 3100 Ray Ferrero, Jr. Boulevard , off SW 30th Street, between University Drive and College Avenue. Public parking is available in the parking garage and costs $1.00 per hour. A meter is also located in the library near the Connections Café entrance.
