NSU Presents Career-Enhancing Workshops on Organizational Conflict and Negotiation
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL—The Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution
(DCAR) at Nova Southeastern University’s Graduate School of Humanities
and Social Sciences (SHSS) is hosting a two-day seminar on ways for
people to better communicate and reach more satisfactory agreements.
This workshop is presented by Neil Katz, Ph.D., director of training
and organizational development at the Executive Education Programs of
the nationally renowned Maxwell School at Syracuse University.
On June 6, 2003 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and June 7, 2003 from 9
a.m. – 3 p.m., Dr. Katz will present two days of training on Organizational
Conflict Diagnostic and Intervention Tools. This workshop will help
attendees “add value” to consulting work by providing a
framework and tools to help make sense of complex dynamics and challenges
before making recommendations and taking action. Drawing on the work
of Lee Bolman, Terrance Deal, Robert Marx and others, we will explore
four cognitive and behavioral “lenses” and “frames”
to serve us as “both windows on the world and lenses which bring
the world into perspective and shaper focus.” This sharpened understanding
will lead to more appropriate interventions and success for clients
and practitioners.
By the end of this workshop, participants will have gained:
- Understanding of the power of “cognitive disposition”
and their own cognitive strengths and vulnerabilities;
- The ability to diagnose and analyze situations through each of the
four frames: structural, human resource, political and symbolic;
- An appreciation of the “added value” of a multi-frame
diagnostic and intervention strategy to tackle organizational conflict;
- Enhanced sophistication and effectiveness in our organizational
consulting and conflict management work.
Workshop fees are: $150.00 for professionals/non-students, and $75.00
for students.
