The Office of Public Affairs, which reports to the Office of University Relations, was created to increase NSU’s name recognition, build community awareness of the university, promote upcoming events, highlight curricular and extracurricular programs, and profile individuals and/or groups. It serves as the university’s principal contact with members of the news media. The goal of the Office of Public Affairs is to establish and maintain positive relationships between NSU and its various audiences. To be effective, the university must have consistent, coordinated communications.
Our Activities:
- Media Relations: News releases, media alerts, Op-Eds (opinion editorials/Letters to Editor), calendar announcements, public service announcements, tip sheets, news conferences, press kits, media tours, Subject Matter Experts to assist with media requests for specific experts, building and maintaining relationships with individual media representatives, and scheduling print and broadcast interviews
- External Communications: Coordination of university-wide community service activities; and university involvement in community, professional, and business organizations; coordinate university-wide magazine, Horizons ; manage the university’s Annual Report from concept to publication
- Internal Communications: Share information between NSU centers, colleges, schools, Student Educational Centers, and administrative departments; produce internal employee newsletter: SharkBytes Newsletter, approve and coordinate mass e-mails from the Office of the President
- Other Public Relations Activities: Prepare public relations plans, consult, provide writing/editing services, coordinate with Office of Publications for internal publications, and assist with special projects for the Office of the President
