FLORIDA SCHOOL CHOICE RESOURCE CENTER AND MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS OPEN PARENT RESOURCE CENTERS

FORT LAUDERDALE , FL – The Florida School Choice Resource Center, funded by the Florida Department of Education, and the Miami-Dade County Public Schools' Parent ACCESS District Office and Title I Administration Office has partnered to open two Parent Resource Centers.

The Parent Resource Centers are designed to provide parents and family members with a place to visit and receive information and services on becoming more involved in their children's education. The following resources and services will be available for family and community members who visit the Centers:

• Access to a computer and a list of links to information on school choice, educational options, learning resources, FCAT, and No Child Left Behind;
• Miami-Dade County Public Schools district information;
• Resources, such as books, videos, and articles, on student learning, family involvement, and educational options;
• Information on the FCAT testing program;
• Information on federal No Child Left Behind legislation and its implications for students and parents; and
• Events such as workshops and trainings on family involvement in education.

The Parent Resource Centers will be located at NSU sites North Miami Beach and Kendall . Groundbreaking ceremonies will be held at:

South Parent Resource Center
