NNSU’s Health Care Centers, the North Broward Hospital District’s Barbara Ziegler Palliative Care Education Programs, and Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center have teamed up to create a one-day conference on Pain and Palliative Care for local health professionals. Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life for patients and their families facing the problems associated with life-threatening illnesses. It involves the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification and assessment and the treatment of pain and other physical, psychosocial, and spiritual problems.

The conference will take place in HPD’s Terry Building on Saturday, Feb. 5, 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. It will include a free continental breakfast and lunch. NSU faculty, including Ronnie Martin; Naushira Pandya; Ken Johnson, D.O.; and Anthony Silvagni, D.O., dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, will be featured speakers at this event.

Registration forms MUST be faxed in by February 2 (no calls or walk-ins will be taken). Physician and nursing credits will be awarded. For more information, please call (954) 459-2095
