Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court Visits Law Center
The Student Bar Initiative (SBI), a student organization at the Law Center of Nova Southeastern University, was privileged to have the Honorable Barbara J. Pariente, Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court, speak at the Shepard Broad Law Center on Thursday, September 15. SBI is a new grassroots student organization formed for the purpose of raising NSU Law’s bar exam passage rate. The topic of Justice Pariente’s discussion was “Loving the Law: The Emotional Rewards of Lawyering.” SBI asked the Justice to help initiate a new wave of motivation among the NSU law students. Justice Barbara Pariente was appointed to the Florida Supreme Court in 1997 by late Democratic Governor Lawton Chiles. She was a trial lawyer for 18 years before being appointed to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal in 1993. SBI’s next scheduled event will be held on October 22, and will feature a PMBR Multiple Choice Seminar that will be free to all members. SBI believes that their goals can be achieved by beginning to review for the Bar exam early and on a continuing basis.
