NSU-CDM Faculty Member Featured on Extreme Makeover Jeffrey Ganeles, D.D.S., a founding faculty member in the Department of Periodontics at NSU’s College of Dental Medicine (CDM), was recently featured on ABC’s Extreme Makeover in a much-publicized segment on the “Snaggletooth Killer.” Ganeles, one of the world’s experts on immediate load dental implants, was selected to reconstruct the teeth of Ray Krone. Convicted more than 10 years ago for murder because his crooked teeth matched bite marks on a victim, Krone, a former postal worker labeled the “snaggletooth killer,” was recently exonerated and released from prison after DNA evidence proved his innocence. The immediate load procedure, coordinated by Ganeles, was the centerpiece of the show, which marked the third time Ganeles appeared on Extreme Makeover. Ganeles will also be featured on A Brand New You, a British-based television show that will air later this spring. Ganeles won the 2005 award for “Best Clinical Innovation Presentation” at the 2005 Academy of Osseointegration, for procedures similar to those completed on the television shows.
