NSU Health Care Centers Win 2005 Healthcare Excellence Award

Congratulations to the faculty, staff and students of NSU’s Health Care Centers!  At a luncheon hosted by the South Florida Business Journal at the Westin Diplomat on December 1, Dr. Robert S. Oller, CEO of NSU’s division of clinical operations accepted the 2005 Healthcare Excellence award for “Excellence in Community-Based Program”.  During Oller’s tenure with the Health Care Centers, and in collaboration with HPD Chancellor Fred Lippman and several deans, the university’s wide array of interdisciplinary services have been brought together to provide patients with enhanced, seamless care through the university’s 17 clinics.

Last year these centers provided more than 300,000 patients visits. In addition, clinical outreach programs provided community services and screenings to 33,000 local residents. This included collaborations with other organizations to provide wellness and health education programs, along with health care screenings for programs related to children’s, senior citizens and women’s health services.

Among the programs recognized, were the back-to-school physical program, the 4th Annual Raising Healthy Children Conference, “A Day for Children”, health fairs and events for senior citizens in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, and the services provided to the community through the Women’s Clinic at NSU.
