Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation at Fischler School Launches National FBI-SOS Program Representatives of the FBI and Nova Southeastern University signed a Memorandum of Understanding last week to collaborate on a national crime prevention program. The signing of this agreement allows the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation at the Fischler School of Education and Human Services to make its FBI-SOS (Safe Online Surfing) program available to middle schools throughout the United States , said Daryl Hulce, CKSF president and founder. Miami FBI Special Agent in Charge Mike Clemens said: “We want to prevent children from becoming victims of online predators. One in five children receives unwanted solicitations online and nearly half don't report it. Through the FBI-SOS program, we will educate children to protect themselves. We look forward to working together with Nova Southeastern and the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation.” The program is free and schools can utilize their current technology to educate students about online predators by simply allowing them to do what they love to do, surf the web. The program is simple for schools to administer, the quizzes are automatically scored, provide instant feedback, and the students get to be part of their school's team to compete against other schools around the country. Since 2001, the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation has awarded scholarships through Internet-based quiz competitions. CKSF rewards students for demonstrating what they know through the use of objective competitions. Winners are most often participants that have well-rounded, practical knowledge, and not necessarily those with the highest academic standing. The Mission is to create scholarly (educational) and scholarship (financial or incentives) opportunities in which participants of all levels have a fair and equal chance to participate and be successful.
