Postgraduate Pediatric Residency Program Established at College of Osteopathic Medicine

This year, an entirely new component has been added to the pediatric program at NSU's College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM)—a postgraduate pediatric residency has been established. This is the first pediatric postgraduate training program in either Broward or Palm Beach Counties . The new program promotes the education of future pediatric physicians and helps to encourage pediatrics as an option for NSU-COM graduates.

Under the direction of department chair, Ed Packer, pediatrics showcases its contemporary approach to child health care at the Ziff Health Care Center on NSU's main campus in Davie . Infants, toddlers, and young adults seen in the university's clinic receive care using the most current concepts and protocols promoted by pediatric educators worldwide. Children and their parents receive care in an environment that promotes both the education of our residents and students and the education of our patients' caregivers.

All aspects of modern pediatric care are offered at NSU's pediatric clinic in an environment that is thoughtful and not rushed. Children are treated for both acute and chronic illnesses and receive health maintenance visits. Parents are counseled regarding the optimal approach for their child's health and development. Students and residents learn under the supervision of board certified university professors of pediatrics and follow the example of these top physicians who serve as their trainers.

Moms and dads find their experience at the Ziff Health Care Center's pediatric clinic both unique and gratifying. Doctors have the most current pediatric health care information at their fingertips. Parents can ask questions and have them answered by pediatric experts in an environment that is thoughtful and thorough.
