Champions for Children Honored at Snowflake Ball Luncheon

Dr. Frederick Lippman receives the Champions for Children Award from Dr. Wendy Masi, dean of the Mailman Segal Institute for Early Childhood Studies, and NSU President Ray Ferrero, Jr.

The Mailman Segal Institute presented the Champions for Children Award to Frederick Lippman, R.Ph., Ed.D., Chancellor of NSU’s Health Professions Division; developer Ginny Miller of Miller Construction Co.; and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel at its 40 th Annual Snowflake Ball Luncheon on Nov. 11.

Recipients of the Champion for Children Award have all worked to enhance the lives of children in South Florida.

The Snowflake Ball is an annual event to raise funds for programs for children with autism at the Mailman Segal Institute for Early Childhood Studies. The institute is housed in the Jim & Jan Moran Family Center Village of Nova Southeastern University, a state of the art demonstration and training facility which enables the institute to showcase best practices in the fields of early childhood education, family support, and parenting education.

The featured speaker at this year’s event was noted children’s author and cartoonist Todd Parr. Actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and his wife, Dany, were honorary co-chairs of the event.
