NSU Hosts 2005 Broward County American Heart Walk

More than 5,000 South Floridians arrived on NSU’s campus to take steps in the fight against the nation’s number one killer - heart disease during the 2005 Broward County American Heart Walk, sponsored by the American Heart Association.

The American Heart Association, which is the largest voluntary health organization working to prevent, defeat and treat heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases, began the American Heart Walk in 1993 to focus attention on exercise as an important part of a heart-healthy lifestyle. It is the organization’s largest national fundraising and awareness-raising event. The Heart Walk averages 5,000 participants throughout South Florida, and NSU has hosted it for the past four years.

NSU’s goal was to raise $25,000 with more than 300 students and employees participating in the walk this year.
