The Florida Bar Association has recognized NSU President Emeritus Abraham Fischler, Ed.D., with the 2005 Medal of Honor Award for significant achievements in improving the administration of justice.

The Florida Bar Association Medal of Honor was established in 1977 with two categories. The first is for a member of the bar who has demonstrated his or her dedication to the objectives of The Florida Bar as set out in the Rules Regulating the Florida Bar. The second is for a person not actively engaged in the practice of law who has made an outstanding contribution to the improvement of the administration of justice through research, writing, or other deeds of such character and quality that, in the judgment of the Foundation, warrant the highest award that can be bestowed by the Foundation.

Concerned about how Florida’s justice system responds to the needs of the citizens it serves, Dr. Fischler has served on the 17th District Judicial Nominating Committee, The Florida Bar Board of Governors, The Florida Bar Foundation Board of Directors, the Development Committee of The Florida Bar Foundation, and the Supreme Court Nominating Committee.
