Law Students Participate in Annual Beach Cleanup as part of Orientation
More than 100 students from the Shepard Broad Law Center participated in the NSU Law Public Service Day Annual Beach Cleanup at John U. Lloyd Beach State Park in Hollywood on Friday, August 19. The cleanup was part of the school's Orientation Program, and participation automatically enrolled students in NSU Law's Pro Bono Honor Program. The Shepard Broad Law Center Pro Bono Honor Program recognizes students who work pro bono for the public interest while enrolled in law school. The goals of the Pro Bono Honor Program are to educate students in the role of public service attorneys, make students aware of critically unmet needs in their communities, assist agencies in trying to meet these needs, and build a tradition of pro bono work that will accompany students into their professional careers. After enduring the blistering heat, students were treated to a beach barbecue before heading home for the weekend. Classes at the Shepard Broad Law Center began on Monday, August 22.
