GETTING FIT: WITH NO TIME AND NO MONEY

It isn't as hard to get fit as you may think. Here are some instant activities to work into your day:

  • Squeeze a tennis ball in your hand when you are not writing or typing.
  • Do leg lifts while at your desk. Extend each leg straight in front of you and repeat 10 times with each leg.
  • Do 15-20 sit-ups 2-3 times per day.
  • Use your desk to do pushups.
  • Stand in a doorway with your hands on the doorframe placed slightly above your chest. Lean forward to stretch your chest and front shoulders.
  • Stand and place your hands on the small of your back. Do a slight back bend.
  • Do shoulder and back stretches often.
  • Walk, rollerblade, or ride a bike instead of driving whenever possible.
  • Watch 10% less TV.
  • Take a brisk 3-minute walk before going to bed.
  • Walk stairs several times each day.
  • Read while riding a stationary bike.
  • Stretch/walk during study breaks or breaks from work.
  • Take a walk while listening to music or an instructional tape.
