The Harvey cardiac simulator is a state-of-the-art cardiac simulation trainer which is able to simulate normal cardiac rhythm and 27 cardiac defects through the generation of different heart sounds and pulses and some pediatric anomalies. Harvey's lifelike features, such as synthetic skin, chest movement and simulated pulse, provide medical students, residents and physicians the opportunity to teach and study cardiac disease without inconveniencing hospital patients. It can also be used to learn entry-level physical exam skills. The Harvey Room is located off the hallway leading to the HPD Library, just before the elevators on the east side. It is accessible only by appointment or during scheduled times. Dr. Alvin Greber is the faculty supervisor. |
