Alcohol Epidemiologic Data Directory Published annually by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism's Alcohol Epidemiologic Data System (AEDS), the publication monitors trends in alcohol epidemiology. The Directory analyzes major population-based surveys and other data collections that include alcohol as a major or minor component.
Atlas of United States Mortality Atlas displays all leading causes of death by race and sex for small geographic areas. Causes of death include all cancer, suicide, firearm suicide, liver disease, HIV infection, pulmonary diseases and pneumonia & influenza. The Cancer Mortality Maps & Graph Web Site provides interactive
maps, graphs (which are accessible to the blind and
visually-impaired), text, tables and figures showing geographic
patterns and time trends of cancer death rates for the time period
1950-1994 for more than 40 cancers.
CDC Wonder CDC Wonder is a menu-driven search engine that allows you to query and access reports, guidelines, and numeric public health data sets from CDC's mainframe computers, such as AIDS (Public Use and Microfiche), Natality, Sexually Transmitted Disease Morbidity, and Sexually Transmitted Disease Surveillance. A free onetime registration is adviseable in order to utilize the search system.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
The CDC's comprehensive website includes links to travel information, CDC publications, links to disease information from CDC research divisions, CDC Prevention Guidelines using CDC Wonder, and links to various Public Health and State/Local Health Departments.
Central Intelligence Agency World Factbook
The CIA Factbook contains essential demographic data on every nation. Sections include Geography, People (including health-related information), Government, Economy, Communications, Transportation, and Military. The site include a link to the Central Intelligence Agency Homepage.
Code of Federal Regulations
Published by the National Archives and Records Administration's Office of the Federal Register and the Government Printing Office, the Code of Federal Regulations contains the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register. Use Title 21 for Food and Drugs.
Department of Health & Human Services
The HHS official website includes links to full-text consumer health information from HHS and other governmental bodies, press releases, speeches, fact sheets and policy (legislation, regulations, budget, statistics) and administrative information (grants, employment opportunites, fiscal budget). From the HHS home page, links to all HHS Agencies are available, such as the CDC, FDA and the Administration on Aging.

Prepared daily by the National Archives and Records Administration's Office of the Federal Register and the Government Printing Office, the Federal Register contains Federal Agency regulations; proposed rules and notices, and; Executive Orders, proclamations, and other Presidential documents.

Maintained by the United States Government, Fedstats allows you to browse through agencies, programs, regional statistics and an A-Z index ranging from Agriculture to Organ Transplants to Vital Statistics.
Food and Drug Administration
Official FDA site includes all electronic informational sources relating to the organization's activities, such as biologics, human drugs, medical devices and FDA News, including press releases, speeches and publications. The site is home to the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. Drug information links from CDER include the "Orange Book," FDA Drug Approvals Lists and the AIDS Clinical Trial Information Service and Clinical Trial Results Database. The CDER site also contains links to the Federal Register (1994-1996) and the Code of Federal Regulation (Title 21).

Healthfinder is a gateway to consumer health information produced by Federal and Not-for-Profit Agencies. The site includes links to online publications, clearinghouses, and web sites for governmental agencies and non-profit organizations.
Healthy People 2000
Annual Reports and Newsletters are available in full text format concerning the Healthy People 2000 national strategy to promote health and prevent disease through changes in lifestyle. In addition, the newsletters, Statistical Notes and Statistics and Surveillance are available in full text PDF format.
Library of Congress, The
The Library of Congress' website provides access to its vast library collection through its publicly accessible online catalog, LOCIS, and information about library services. From the home page, current and past exhibitions and the "American Memory", historical collections for the National Digital Library can be viewed. The Global Legal Information Network (GLIN), which is a database of national laws from over 35 contributing nations, can be directly accessed from LC's home page.
Medical and Public Health Law Site
The Public Health Law Project is a research project based at the LSU School of Law. It is an interdisciplinary and inter-institutional project with the goal of furthering research and service in public health law. Morbidity and Mortality: Chartbook on Cardiovascular, Lung and Blood Diseases
Compiled by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the Chartbook is a biennial collection of statistics focusing trends of morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular, lung, and blood diseases. National Cancer Institute-Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER)
SEER collects data and publishes cancer incidence and survival data. National Center for Health Statistics
The NCHS is the primary organization responsible for disseminating health statistics. From the Home Page, access an entire universe of health statistics. The Data Warehouse includes published and unpublished tables, vital health statistics, access to CDC Wonder, and public- use data files. The NCHS site also includes a link to FEDSTATS, Healthy People 2000, and a truly comprehensive listing of statistical sites ranging from Aging/Elderly care to Immunizations to Women's Health. The NCHS site includes links to both Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
National Institutes of Health
The NIH website contains links to scientific resources, health information (AIDS information, CancerNet) and newsworthy press releases and NIH special reports. In addition to resources from the NIH home page, the site contains links to NIH associated research centers and institutes, which include full-text health information. Looking for official census data? Welcome to the official website for the Department of Commerce's Bureau of the Census. Use the "Subjects A-Z" to locate census data for subjects ranging from computer ownership to Zip Code statistics. The site includes an interactive method to search for state and county census material using the Bureau's Map Stats function in the "Just For Fun" menu option.
