Bureau of HIV/AIDS, STD and TB Update Series The site contains data information sheets covering various aspects of what is currently known about the epidemiology of HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, and tuberculosis among differing populations in Canada. These documents were prepared by the Laboratory Centre for Disease Control. The LCDC site contains travel health advisories and a comprehensive Publications page, including government periodicals, disease prevention guidelines, reports, global bulletins, and peer-reviewed articles published by LCDC staff members.
Health Canada Online
This is the official web site for the Canadian Government's agency responsible for the implementation and regulation of health and welfare in Canada. For ease of access, use the A-Z Index, the Searchable Index, or the fast links from the home page. Content on the site includes consumer health information, online full text government publications, health research, and governmental acts, regulations, guidelines, and policy initiatives. Of note, access the landmark Krever Commission Report, which outlines the controversies surrounding the tainted blood supply and recommendations for the future.
Pan American Health Organization
PAHO is an international public health organization, affiliated with the United Nations and serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization. The PAHO site includes links to technical information, publications including a searchable catalog, Country Health Profiles, and links to both health and non-health related International Organizations. Most information on the site is also available in Spanish.
WHO Statistical Information System (WHOSIS)
WHOSIS provides access to statistical and epidemiological data that is available from WHO and other related organizations in electronic format. Through WHOSIS, you may search the entire WHO web site using a keyword query. Or, the WHOSIS site may be browsed by general topic or disease, or accessing health and health-related links.
World Health Organization (WHO)
WHO's website includes links to the World Health Report (excerpts), statistical data links through the WHO Statistical Information System, health topic information and links to WHO policy divisions, and various WHO newsletters in full-text format. From the home page, the Weekly Epidemiological Record in full-text format is available.
