Vascular Sonography
Welcome to the NSU Vascular Sonography Program!
Please review this website and make a note of all of the documentation and information that you will need for Orientation Day.
Orientation is mandatory and will be held on Monday, August 29, 2011 and will begin at 10:00 A.M. in the Terry Building of the Health Professions Division, 3200 South University Drive, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. (Note: when searching for driving directions on the Web, please make sure to enter the town of Davie, not Fort Lauderdale. Fort Lauderdale is used for mail purposes only, but the campus is actually located in the town of Davie.)
During Orientation, you will learn about the many services offered to you as part of the Health Professions Division. You will learn about your courses and your class schedules. You will also have the opportunity to meet with your professors, fellow students, and key representatives of the administration and services of the NSU community, the Health Professions Division, and the College of Health Care Sciences.
Following the Orientation presentations, you will be free to shop for your books and scrubs at the NOVA BookStore. While there, place your order for the program white jackets. Samples are available for sizing.
To facilitate your enrollment in courses and your first day of class, follow the instructions outlined in your acceptance letter. In this letter, you should have received information on how to obtain an NSU username and password to set up a NOVA email account. This username and password will allow you to access Sharklink, a portal to all the Web applications at NSU, such as Webmail, WebStar, and WebCT. All of these applications can also be accessed independently. Webmail is a regular email system, Webstar will allow you to view class schedules, transcripts, and financial statements linked to your NSU account. WebCT will be used for courses. All of these applications have detailed tutorials that I recommend you view once you obtain access. However, we will provide a tutorial of the system at orientation. If you need further assistance, please contact the help desk at 954-262-4367 or 800-541-6682, ext. 2HELP.
Irene Tasca, Administrative Coordinator for the program, can also assist you before your first day on campus and throughout your education in the program. She can be contacted at 954-262-1964, or via email at it59@nova.edu. Irene will register you for all your courses throughout the length of the program.
Please note that for this first term, you need to return the letter of intent to the admission office, as well as provide all other documents necessary for full admission to the program in order for Irene to be able to register you for your courses. Please view the documents available on this page with emphasis on: the orientation schedule, the academic calendar, the booklist (note that this list is subject to change), a list of potential clinical sites (note that this list is also subject to change), a succinct biography of the professors, a map of the Health Professions Division within the NSU Davie campus, and a copy of the Student Handbook. All questions can be addressed at orientation.
The faculty and staff at NSU look forward to meeting you and working with you in the program.
Sincerely,
Jorge Han, MD, RDMS, RDCS, RVT
