Orientation

Fort Lauderdale RN-BSN Nursing Program

Congratulations on your acceptance into the Fort Lauderdale RN-BSN Nursing Program!

Please review this website and make a note of all of the documentation and information that you will need to send or bring to the Office of Admissions. Orientation is mandatory and will be held on Tuesday, August 25th in the Private Dining Room of the Terry Building, 3200 S. University Drive, Fort Lauderdale, Florida at 4:00 P.M. It is during this orientation time that you will learn all about your courses, class schedule and the NSU campus. Please note that class will begin immediately after the orientation session.

With your acceptance letter you received information on how to obtain a nova username and password. If you need further assistance please contact the help desk at (954) 262-4357 or (800) 541-6682 x2HELP. Webmail is your nova email and you can expect to receive correspondence from financial aid, admissions and your advisor. WebStar will allow you to view your class schedule, account balance, and financial aid disbursements. WebCT will allow you to view your courses.

For your first semester the coordinator will register you for your courses. We can register you, if you have returned the intent to enroll letter to admissions. You will be registered for approximately 3 courses a semester, and your schedule is divided into two- 7 week terms. After the first semester you will be responsible for registration.

Getting Started

Once you have your username and password, log into Sharklink (located on the NSU homepage) and look around. Your username and password is what you will need to log in. Classes start the week of August 24, 2009 and you will be able to view your first course, NUR3000: Transition to Baccalaureate Nursing, the Friday before classes begin. The other courses will not appear on your Webct page until the Friday before the courses are scheduled to begin.

To prepare for the online component of the course you should log onto Webct and take the tutorial. Take it over and over until you feel comfortable. Once logging into the actual course, download the syllabus and the activities and assignments. Print these documents, review, and organize them in a notebook.

Again, congratulations on your decision to advance your education. We look forward to working with you as you fulfill your goal of becoming a baccalaureate prepared nurse.

Sincerely,
