Ft. Myers RN-BSN & RN-MSN Nursing Program
Congratulations on your acceptance into the Fort Myers RN-BSN and RN-MSN Nursing Program!
Please review this website and make a note of all the documentation and information that you will need to bring with you or send to the Office of Admissions. Orientation is mandatory and will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at 3:00 PM at the Fort Myers Nova Southeastern University Student Education Center, 3650 Colonial Court, Fort Myers, FL 33913. It is during this orientation time that you will learn all about your courses, class schedule and the NSU campus. Please note that class will begin immediately after the orientation session.
With your acceptance letter, you received information on how to obtain an NSU username and password. If you need further assistance, please contact the Help Desk at (954) 262-4357 or 800-541-6682 ext. 2HELP. Webmail is your NSU email and you can expect to receive correspondence from Financial Aid, Admissions and your Advisor. WebStar will allow you to view your class schedule, account balance, and Financial Aid disbursements. WebCT will allow you to view your courses.
For your first semester, the Nursing Support Coordinator will register you for your courses provided you have returned your Intent to Enroll Form with your $200 acceptance fee to Admissions. You will be registered for approximately 3 courses a semester, and your schedule is divided into two 7-week terms
Getting Started
Once you have your username and password, log into Sharklink (located on the NSU Home page) and look around. Your username and password is what you will need to log in. Classes start the week of January 10, 2011, and you will be able to view your first course – NUR3000: Transition to Baccalaureate Nursing, the Friday before classes begin. The other courses will not appear on your WebCT page until the Friday before the courses are scheduled to begin.
To prepare for the online component of the course, you should log onto WebCT and take the tutorial. Take it over and over until you feel comfortable. Once logging into the actual course, download the syllabus and the activities and assignments. Print these documents, review and bring to your first night of class.
Again, congratulations on your decision to advance your education. We look forward to working with you as you fulfill your goal of becoming a baccalaureate-prepared nurse.
Sincerely,
Linda Strommen, Ed. D., RN, MSN
