Orientation

Ph.D. Nursing

Dear PhD Students,

The New PhD Student Orientation (Class 2011) is scheduled for May 31 -June 1, 2011. Summer Institute Week for returning PhD students (incoming classes 2008, 2009 and 2010) is scheduled for the first week of June (6/1 - 6/4). Monday, May 30 is a university holiday (Memorial Day), and the university is closed.

Both of these sessions will take place at Nova Southeastern University's campus in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the Alvin Sherman Library. I have enclosed local hotel and airport information below. If you are interested in sharing a room, we suggest you arrange with fellow classmates. Transportation to and from classes will be provided by NSU (see schedule for times).

The August 2011 incoming class will join us for orientation May 31 – June 1, 2011, where we will provide a university and nursing department orientation. We have scheduled this mandatory orientation as part of our Summer Institute week. This will give all of you a chance to meet each other and meld as an educational community. I have attached a New PhD Student Orientation Schedule.

The orientation to the university is on Tuesday, May 31 and is scheduled for the University Center Arena. The nursing orientation is on Wednesday, June 1 and is scheduled for Alvin Sherman Library. Thursday morning you will meet your professors who will provide a review of your first two courses. It is important that you have returned your intent to enroll form within two weeks of notification of acceptance to the program.

A social event (dinner) will take place on Wednesday evening. The dinner for all three PhD classes and faculty will be held at the Grande Oaks Country Club on Wednesday, June 1, starting at 6:00 p.m. This will be a great opportunity for all three classes of PhD students to meet and connect with fellow classmates, other PhD students, and faculty.

If you are planning to attend the dinner, please RSVP to Carole Sisolak with your choice of fish, beef, or chicken by May 2, 2011. This dinner is designed to celebrate your PhD journey and therefore is limited to registered students only. Please make your dinner selection from the menu below:
