Doctoral Hooding Form

Hooding is a tradition practiced by the Health Professions Division where a new graduate receiving a doctoral degree is welcomed into the profession by another member of that profession. Generally, the Dean hoods each graduate. However, there are exceptions to this rule. If you have an immediate family member who is a graduate with the same degree and in the same academic discipline that you are receiving, or if you have an immediate family member who is on faculty at NSU Health Professions Division, that family member may be allowed to hood you.

Please note: We define an immediate family member as a spouse, mother, father, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister, brother, grandparent, son, or daughter.

This individual does not need academic regalia. He or she will be asked to come on to the stage at the appropriate time

Candidates receiving a doctoral degree and who wish to have a family member hood them within the Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, Pharmacy, Optometry, Dental Medicine, and the Physical Therapy Program in the College of Health Care Sciences, must submit this form by Tuesday, May 1, 2012.

Candidates receiving a doctoral degree and who wish to have a family member hood them within the College of Health Care Sciences and College of Nursing must submit this form by Wednesday, August 1, 2012.

This form will not be accepted after the appropriate deadline date.
