Graduating doctoral and juris doctorate candidates at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) commencement ceremonies will be hooded on stage in front of their friends and family. Watch video.
Hooding is a tradition practiced by the Health Professions Division where a new graduate receiving a doctoral degree is welcomed into the profession by another member of that profession. Generally, faculty member hoods each graduate. However, there are several exceptions:
Please note: We define an immediate family member as a spouse, mother, father, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister, brother, grandparent, son, or daughter.
This individual does not need academic regalia. He or she will be asked to come on to the stage at the appropriate time.
Requests for family hooding during the August ceremony must be made no later than Monday, August 11, 2014.
This form will not be accepted after the appropriate deadline date.
August candidates will receive commencement invitations in June and should not RSVP for any commencement-related activities until that time. Any online information submitted by August candidates prior to the June invitation will be deleted in the changeover from the May to the August ceremonies.
