Hooding is a tradition practiced by the Health Professions Division where a new graduate is welcomed into the profession by another member of that profession. In general, the Dean will be hooding each of the graduates.
However, if you have an immediate family member who is either on the faculty at Nova Southeastern University Health Professions Division or a graduate of a program that has the same degree you are about to receive, you have the option to have that family member hood you. We define an immediate family member as a spouse, mother, father, aunt, uncle, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister, brother, grandparent, son or daughter. That individual does not need academic regalia. He or she will be asked to come on to the stage at the appropriate time.
Students who wish to have a family member hood them within the Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, Pharmacy, Optometry, Medical Sciences and Dental Medicine, and the Physical Therapy Program in the College of Allied Health and Nursing, must fill in this form by April 15th. Students in the College of Allied Health and Nursing who will be attending the August graduation and who wish to have a family member hood them must fill in this form by July 15th. Please print a copy for your records before submitting.
Please Note: This form will not be accepted after the appropriate deadline date.
