Broward Women’s Alliance Scholarship

Requirements: Eligible applicants must have chosen a specific educational path that will assist them in achieving economic self-sufficiency, economic independence, and full participation in the workforce. Applicants must include a description of the specific program for which the scholarship is being requested. Scholarship funds are applicable only to tuition and fees. Applicants must be a resident of Broward County. Award notifications will be done in mid-late May.

Requirements: Applicants must be female resident of Broward County for 2 years prior to submitting an application. Be a graduating high school senior in a Broward County high school. Have an accumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher and have an SAT Score of 1200 or higher. Applicants must also show personal leadership qualities as demonstrated in extracurricular school and community activities and demonstrate financial need.


Mary Houliston MacDonald Scholarship for Women

Requirements: Applicants must be female age 28 years or older and be a U.S Citizen and resident of Broward County She must have been abandoned by her husband or be currently single because she is widowed or divorced. She must plan to attend an accredited college, university, or vocational school. She must have a GPA of 2.0, if currently attending school and must demonstrate financial need.


Florida Nursing Foundation Scholarships

Requirements: Various scholarships available to both graduate and undergraduate students. Applicants must have completed at least one semester of a nursing program in Florida and be a resident of Florida for at least one year. AISES Google Scholarship

Requirements: Applicants must be American Indian, Alaska Native or Native Hawaiian AISES members pursuing degrees in the computer science, computer engineering and management information systems.  Applicants must be full time Undergrad or Graduate students with a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must be majoring in the field of Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Management Information Systems.


Access Group’s One Less Worry Contest.

Requirements: Access Group, the nonprofit graduate loan specialist, is asking law students throughout the country to videotape their worries for a chance at winning a $10,000 law school scholarship to help them with their studies. Upload your video to YouTube and complete the entry form using the link by June 15, 2008. The Access Group panel will choose 10 finalists and voting will begin July 1. You, your friends, your family, classmates, whoever, will vote to decide the winner of a $10,000 scholarship to law school. The contest starts March 10, 2008, and the winner will be announced on August 1, 2008.


Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. Scholarship Program 2008

Requirements:The Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. ("LMJ") Scholarship Program is open to “all” students who have been accepted into law school to start in the fall of 2008. Only students enrolled in a full-time, day program with an anticipated graduation date in Spring 2011 are eligible to apply. The goal of the program is to promote academic excellence and diversity in law schools by awarding ten newly accepted law students from disadvantaged backgrounds with scholarships to help defray their education expenses.

Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest

Requirements: The Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest is open to undergraduate students. To participate, you must read the novel and write an essay on a selected topic that can be found on the Web site. Essays are judged on both style and content. The winning essay must demonstrate an outstanding grasp of the philosophic meaning of the book "Atlas Shrugged." Barbara Mandigo Kelly Peace Poetry Awards

Requirements: Applicants must send 2 copies of up to 3 typed unpublished poems. Maximum of 30 lines per poem. Include name, address, email, telephone number, and age (if youth) in upper right hand corner of one copy of each poem. Winners will be announced by October 1, 2008. Winners and Honorable Mentions will be notified by mail. The award is open to people worldwide. All poems must be the original work of the poet, unpublished, and in English. The Nuclear Age Peace Foundation reserves the right to publish and distribute the award winning poems, including honorable mentions.


BigSun Scholarship

Requirements: All Student athletes are eligible regardless of the sport they are engaged in. The student must be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute. A short (500 words or less) essay is required describing why you should be the winner of this award. Requirements: The Alvin J. Cox Memorial Fund is available to college students in need of financial assistance. Applicants must submit an essay on any topic of their choosing as long it includes: Your reason for deciding to attend college, your reason as to why you believe you deserve the scholarship and your chosen college major. Requirements: Available to Students in all disciplines of studies. The Gaia Community Scholarship is available to students aspiring to be the change they wish to see in the world, live authentically and make a difference. Applicants must answer the questions listed on the sponsor's website, one in under 25 words and two in under 250 words per question. Applicants who wish to apply online must register as members on the site for processing purposes, but you can also apply via regular mail without registering.


John Gyles Education Awards

Requirements: The John Gyles Education Awards are available each year to students in both Canada and the United States. They are the result of a private, benevolent endeavor established in 1990. Full Canadian or American citizenship is a requirement. Awards are available to both male and female students for all areas of post secondary study. A minimum GPA of 2.7 is required. Criteria other than strictly academic ability and financial need are considered in the selection process. Selected students will receive up to $3,000.00. The filing date for mailing applications in 2008 is June 1st.


The 2008 Michael Hakeem Memorial College Essay Contest

LIFE Lessons Scholarship

Requirements: Awarded to College bound students ages 17-24. Applicants must submit an essay 500 words max or a 3 minute video describing how losing a parent or guardian affected them emotionally. Essays should reflect on the impact that life insurance or the lack thereof affected the family finances and how this affected their ability to attend college.


NACA Foundation Graduate Scholarships

Requirements: Applicants must be a graduate at the time of application. Applicants must submit a summary (résumé or vitae) of the applicant’s volunteer (campus, community or organization) and employment activities related to campus activities. A summary of professional goals in which the applicant hopes to accomplish in one year, five years and 10 years. Letters of reference is also required. A summary describing how receiving an NACA Foundation Graduate Scholarship will better enable you to achieve these goals.


NACA Regional Council Student Leader

Requirements: The Proof-Reading.com Scholarship is available to students in accredited four-year colleges and universities in the United States. Applicants must be enrolled for at least 12 semester units and have at least a 3.5 GPA. Applicants must also be a legal resident of the United States of hold a valid green card to be eligible for this award. To enter you must submit a 1500-word essay based on a topic provided by the sponsor. Recipients will be announced on July 1, 2008.


THE SALLIE MAE 911 EDUCATION FUND: Created in response to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the 911 Education Fund provides scholarship dollars to children of those who were killed or permanently disabled in the attacks.

SGNA REN General Education Scholarship

Requirements: Available to full-time students working toward licensure as a registered nurse. Applicant must be a full-time nursing student with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applications and supporting documents (short essay, a letter of recommendation, and a transcript of any coursework you have already completed) must be submitted no later than July 31. The recipient will be notified in October, and the funds will be awarded after the winner successfully completes the fall term.
