Automatic Payment

Perkins Loan borrowers have the option of signing up for automatic payment from their checking accounts, if desired. This electronic debit prevents borrowers from incurring late penalties or fines and falling into default. At the same time, it is a convenience not having to write a check every month.

Deferments

To receive a deferment of repayment, the borrower must request the deferment on the proper deferment request forms, along with required documentation.

The student may lose deferment benefits if they fail to file the request on time.
