Direct Addressing

PostalSoft, a software computer program, has a Coding Accuracy Support System (C.A.S.S.) that enables the University to take advantage of certain automation-based discounts offered by the U.S. Postal Service. This system requires the mailing list be on computer diskette(s) using a D-base file or an ASCII file. This system automatically assigns appropriate ZIP + 4 Code, carrier route, and the corresponding bar-code to your mailing list, making the mailing eligible for postal discounts. Purge and merge capabilities allow for two or more mailing lists to be combined into a single list with detection and deletion of duplicate addresses. This process can reduce First Class mailing costs and Third Class mailing costs. A D-base file is most preferable.

The listing can either be in D-base (preferred) or in ASCII (comma quote delimited) with the following field definitions:

Field 1: Prefix (Mr., Mrs., etc.) Optional Field 6: Address 1
Field 2: First Name Field 7: Address 2
Field 3: Last name Field 8: City
Field 4: Suffix (Jr., III, etc.) Optional Field 9: State (abb. in caps )
Field 5: Company Name Optional Field 10: ZIP Code
