Galley is a graduate from Nova Southeastern University’s Teaching and Learning Institute and has applied that knowledge to her instructional strategies within her courses. As the DCE, Galley’s focus is on clinical education. She is responsible for organizing the integrated clinical experience (ICE) and patient experience (PE) component in several of the psychomotor courses and assists in the lab courses.

Scholarly Activities and Interests

Galley’s extensive background in clinical orthopedics has been the primary focus of her scholarly activities prior to her role as DCE at Nova Southeastern University's (NSU) Tampa Bay Regional Campus. She was selected to present her case study entitled “Return to Physical Activity Following a Stable Pelvic Fracture,” at the A.T. Still Graduation. She also contributed in part to the development of an Orthopaedic Residency Program for The Institute for Research and Rehabilitation (TIRR) in Houston, TX in 2005 by authoring “The Hip Module – Clinical Manifestations and Precautions Dictated by Specific Diagnoses and Surgeries.”

Since becoming the Director of Clinical Education with NSU, Galley has focused on research in the area of clinical education and specifically in regard to the unique situation of the hybrid curriculum. She presented at the Education Leadership Conference (ELC) in 2014 with her colleagues on transitioning a traditional course to a hybrid course, with her focus on the clinical education component. She presented at ELC again in 2016 regarding performance in terminal clinical experiences related to integrated clinical experience hours. She collaborated with multiple universities on a study comparing Clinical Experience assessment tools and presented their findings at the ELC in 2020. She was also selected to serve among colleagues across Florida on the Florida Physical Therapy Association (FPTA) Clinical Education Task Force during the pandemic to ensure the state of clinical education could thrive through challenging times. This work was also presented at ELC in 2021 and is currently in process of being submitted for publication.

Areas of Practice

Galley has spent much of her career as a clinician working in the outpatient primarily orthopaedic setting and more specifically, in private practice. Her last six years in the clinic were served as a Director of a Private Practice where she was involved in both patient care and business management. Since 2007, she has worked part-time in the outpatient department at Moffitt Cancer Center. As an Orthopaedic Specialist, her clinical interests continue in this area, but with more recent life experiences, she is passionately involved in working with the cancer population and more specifically in the treatment of lymphedema in breast cancer survivors.

Additionally, Galley serves as a mentor in the Orthopaedic Residency program as well as a clinical supervisor in the Shark Motion pro bono clinical program.

Professional Activity Summary

Galley has been an APTA member since 1999 and has enjoyed membership in multiple sections, including education, orthopaedic, oncology, and private practice. She served two terms as an Elected Director at Large for the National Consortium of Clinical Educators (NCCE) and serves as a member of the Clinical Education Special Interest Group (CESIG) within the Academy of Education of the APTA.
