Mara Sanchez, MMS, PA-C
Professor Sanchez joined the faculty at Nova Southeastern University's Physician Assistant program in Ft. Lauderdale in June 2010. She is a Florida native, and a graduate from the Nova PA program class of 2004. After graduation, Prof. Sanchez practiced as a PA in Hollywood, FL in Internal Medicine for 3 years providing office and inpatient hospital care. She then moved on to Family Practice/student health at the NSU clinic, seeing a variety of patients, and providing school physicals and vaccinations, as well as woman's health exams. Prof. Sanchez decided to move into academia in 2010 after she discovered she had a strong desire and love for teaching. She has enjoyed being able to pass on to PA students the skills and knowledge required to be excellent practitioner's.
Professor Sanchez obtained her Bachelor's of Science in Nutrition from the University of Florida in 1997. She worked as a clinical dietitian for 5 years, specializing in nutrition support, before deciding to attend PA school. She switched careers after she realized she had a longing to learn more, and a passion to become more active in patient care. She received her Master's in Medical Science, and PA degree at Nova Southeastern University, graduating at the top of her class with honors.
Professor Sanchez is the course director for the Physical Diagnosis course and provides various lectures in different courses throughout the PA curriculum, including the Clinical Medicine and Nutrition courses.
Professor Sanchez lives in Broward County and enjoys singing, traveling, and cooking; but most of all she enjoys spending her free time with her beloved family.
