Michael Johnson, MPAS, PA-C
Professor Michael Johnson joined the Nova Southeastern faculty in October, 2011. He has been in clinical practice as a physician assistant in the fields of family medicine, emergency medicine, and internal medicine for twenty years. He graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree as a Physician Assistant. He later completed a Master of Physician Assistant Studies with a Specialization in Family Practice in 1997. Mr. Johnson discovered his love for teaching during his time as a family practice preceptor of second year physician assistant students at Eglin Air Force Base.
Mr. Johnson started his healthcare career as a medical laboratory technician/medical technologist in the military. In 1991 he completed PA school and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He spent a total of 20 years in the Air Force with assignments across the globe. In 2003, Mr. Johnson took his last assignment at Fairchild Air Force Base as the Health and Wellness Center Director where he coordinated the health promotion program for the base military and civilian population. He also enjoyed teaching classes on health promotion and disease prevention. He retired at the rank of Major in 2004.
Professor Johnson teaches courses in Geriatrics, Neurology, Orthopaedic evaluations, and Physical Diagnosis and is involved with a variety of school committees.
Mr. Johnson is married and resides in Broward County. He enjoys a variety of sports, but fishing is his favorite. He also plays acoustic guitar and enjoys singing.
