Desiree KennedyDESIREE KENNEDY first discovered her passion for politics at a young age.
"I saw Hillary Clinton on television as a child and thought, 'I want to be like her.' "When she was eight, a state senator needed volunteers; Kennedy was the first to sign up. Now, with a major in legal studies, she has the ambition to attend law school.
An aspiring lawyer, her eye is on a political life. A double major at NSU, Kennedy has a second passion: dance. Her talents took her all the way to Radio City Music Hall last summer, when she participated in the Rockette Summer Intensive with her best friend and younger sister.
Coming to NSU, 2,000 miles from home, was an emotional experience for Kennedy, who was hesitant to leave her family. However, she soon found NSU to be "more than I ever dreamed. From classes, to professors, to the Honors Program, I feel right at home."
A Chancellor's Scholarship not only made her journey from Maine to Florida possible, it also allowed her to become the first in her family to attend college. "I am grateful to NSU for helping the first Kennedy to attend college. I dream of being the next Kennedy in politics."
