Advisement Services

Career advisors are able to assist students and alumni with mock interviews, resume building, drop ins, job searches and more. Career Development offers two offices locations in the Horvitz building and Carl DeSantis both offering the same services. To make an appointment please call (954) 262-7201.

15-Minute, Drop-In Advisement

"Drop-In" lasts approximately 15 minutes and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Drop-In hours will be held Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Summer drop-in hours for May, June and July will be Monday thru Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Razor Quick Drop-In:

In collaboration with various campus departments, a 4 year academic and career plan was created to provide guidance to students as to what their 4 years at NSU should look like and steps they should be taking to reach their respective goals upon graduation. Choosing a Major

Are you unsure about what you want to major in? Or do you have a major, but are not certain if it is the right choice for you? You are not alone in feeling unclear about this important decision!

Career Development encourages all students to invest time in planning their academic and career success.  Below are a list of services Career Development provides for students who need help with choosing or switching their Major.

Career Assessments

  • Career Development offers several assessments that will help you identify and understand your values, interests, skills, and personality. In addition, these assessments provide important insights to enhance your personal growth and overall understanding on what you want from a major/career.

Career Programs

The career office’s host’s several programs which will cover a wide range of topics pertaining to students’ professional development and opportunities which can aid in career progression towards desired goals. Programs will include:

Workshops and Webinars

  • Setting yourself apart when vying for career opportunities often comes down to having practical knowledge of common business situations.
    Give yourself an edge by learning from our Career staff and other special guests during these regularly scheduled training sessions held throughout the academic year.

Career Corner Radio Show

  • Tune in to Radio X every Friday at 11:00 a.m. for a career-focused segment covering anything from interview tips to the Do’s and Don’ts of professionalism.

Internships and Job Search

  • The Career Development staff seeks out top-notch local and national employers who are looking to specifically hire future NSU graduates and alumni. Each job opportunity promoted by our office is thoroughly vetted for quality to ensure only the best are made available.

Mock Interview Program

  • Is that big job interview coming up soon? Are you looking to fine-tune your communication skills? Let us put you at ease with our Mock Interview Program. Submit a cover letter, resume, and job description of your choice in preparation for a videotaped mock interview with a career adviser. We will provide you with feedback, help you understand cultural differences, and skills necessary to land that job. Keep your DVD and review it before the big day!
