Rei joined Nova’s Office of Career Development in July, 2017 as a Career Advisor for Experiential Education. In May, 2017, Rei completed the Masters of Science in Higher Education Administration program at Florida International University. While completing his master’s program, Rei served as the Graduate Assistant for FIU’s Office of Career & Talent Development where he helped students write their professional documents, explore career paths, and managed FIU’s career certificate program.
Before entering higher education, Rei worked for nearly three years as an English and Composition teacher in both Miami-Dade and Broward County high schools. During this time, Rei gained a passion for counseling students as they transitioned to becoming young adults.
Rei graduated from Florida International University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in English, and a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies, with Undergraduate Certificates in both Film Studies and Japanese Studies. Rei was active in writing for FIU’s student newspaper, The Beacon.
Born and raised in Miami, FL, Rei enjoys visiting all of the wonderful and varied restaurants South Florida has to offer and has a passion for coffee which you will often find him making for all of his colleagues in the Career Development kitchen. Rei is married to his high school sweetheart and both he and his wife love dogs. Together they adopted a three-year-old Havanese named Luke.
