In using the services of the Office of Career Services at Nova Southeastern University, I understand that I must abide by the policies set forth in this Agreement.

  1. Interview Cancellation Policy:

I may cancel a scheduled interview, if necessary, up to two full business days in advance. There will be no penalty.

What happens if I do not show for a scheduled interview?
Cancellations less than two full business days before a visit, or failure to attend an interview, will be considered “No-Shows”

    • First No-Show
I understand that my campus interview privileges will be placed on hold, to be reinstated at the Director’s discretion. I understand that I must write a letter of apology to the employer (e-mail apology notes are not acceptable). Until this is done, I understand that I will not be allowed to participate in any upcoming interviews, or have access to eRecruiting.

    • Second No-Show
I understand that at the Discretion of the Director, all Career Services privileges may be terminated. I understand that I must write a letter of apology to the employer and make an appointment with the Director or her designee. Until this letter is received and the appointment conducted, I understand that I will also relinquish rights to all services of the Career Center, including career consulting, events, eRecruiting and access to all other services and resources of the Office of Career Services.

  2. Job Postings

    • I understand that registration with eRecruiting does not guarantee a job placement and that the employing organizations and not Career Services make all hiring decisions.

    • I understand that it is my responsibility to research and evaluate job leads and job offers. Career Services is not responsible for any misrepresentation or inaccuracy of job announcements.

  3. Collected Information

Career Services collects student and alumni registration information, electronic copies of student and alumni resumes, cover letters, and any other material students and alumni choose to share with us. Through the creation of an account with our office, students and alumni provide all information in the form of an intake form, online profile, or resume. This information is maintained in databases housed on servers such as Experience Network* or SmarTek**. This information is accessible solely by representatives of Career Services and is not available to employers.

*Experience Network is on outside vendor.
**SmarTek is a database developed by NSU Career Services.

    1. Your Experience Network Profile/Documents
Your Personal and Academic Information must be updated online through the Experience eRecruiting system each year to reflect your current status and qualifications. All accounts that have not been updated by December of each year will be inactivated. Re-activation will be made available to those who phone in a formal request. This helps us better help those who are actively searching for jobs and are in need of assistance from our office.

  4. Release of Information

Career Services staff members disseminate student and alumni resumes to employers under the following conditions:

    1. Students have indicated via their online account that they are interested in Resume Referral as a desired service.

  5. Assistance available to Distance Students and Alumni

Career Services is committed to providing high quality services to all our students and alumni of NSU. Many of our students and alumni can be found throughout the United States and internationally. Every effort will be made to provide specific opportunities in your geographic location.

To accommodate distance students and alumni, Career Services offers email and telephone appointments. Topics for these communications can include: resume development, interviewing skills, salary negotiation strategies, job search strategies, understanding how to use our online services, as well as many other developmental activities. Students taking courses from international locations must educate themselves on employment visas and work programs.

  6. Appointment Policy

Career Services maintains the right to require email appointments to those who do not show for scheduled appointments.

Do to the increase in traffic; Career Services asks that you arrive on time to all appointments to maintain the best possible service we can provide. Students who are more than 20 minutes late will be asked to reschedule their appointment in order to maximize the time a consultant can spend on your career development. Please call your career consultant or ask the front desk to transfer you to your consultant if you plan to be late.

Career Services does not accept “same-day appointments” due to the nature of the assistance we provide. This policy allows our career consultants to maximize the amount of research and resources they can prepare for you before your time with them.
