Ricardo P. Deveaux, M.S. '92 was recently awarded a Chinese Government Fellowship and represented his country, The Bahamas on a one month assignment at Peking University, one of China's Leading Universities. Deveaux was one of only thirty-two individuals selected from The Caribbean and South-Pacific Islands for the Fellowship to study for an intensive course in Public Administration.
Deveaux noted that it was an awesome learning and cultural experience to be in China for the month of July. In addition to the classroom experience, he got an opportunity to visit China's Forbidden City,Tiananmen Square, the Great Wall of China and climbChangbaiMountain.
At the end of the seminar, Deveaux was selected as The Delegate of The Seminar and was given the opportunity to speak on behalf of all of the participants at The Closing Ceremony.
Deveaux noted that "It was a once in a lifetime experience to represent my country, The Bahamas".
Amy Nicole DuPree, D.P.T. '12 is currently a staff physical therapist at the James A. Haley VA Hospital. In addition, she serves as an adjunct professor at NSU's Tampa Student Educational Center.
Eisinger Brown Lewis Frankel & Chaiet, P.A., a full service Florida law firm focusing on community association and real estate development law, announced that Gregory R. Eisinger, J.D. '12 has joined the firm's Hollywood office as an associate. He will be focusing his practice on condominium, homeowners' and community association law, real estate transactions and development and general real estate law.
Susan Healy, J.D. '84 was recognized by her peers as one of the Best Lawyers in America in the field of Securities Litigation. Susan is a founding partner of Naples law firm Vernon Healy, which was listed in U.S. News and Weekly Report as one of the Best Law Firms in America, receiving first tier rankings for both Commercial Litigation and Securities/Capital Markets Law. Susan and the firm were recently featured in an article in the Gulf Coast Business Review about Vernon Healy's focus on products and practices that harm investors.
Beth Hendler has joined Brinkley Morgan as an associate. Hendler was an associate with the Hough Law Group.
Holland & Knight has added Amanda J. Hill, J.D. '12 as an associate.
Julie Hough, J.D. '04 has joined Brinkley Morgan as a partner. She was with the Hough Law Group.
Garth Hutton, B.S.N. '04 previously Director of Nursing for Dade Medical College's (DMC) Hollywood campus – was named Corporate Director of Nursing. Hutton will be responsible for the successful and efficient operation of all of DMC's Nursing programs.
Mary E. "Betsy" Leveritt, D.O. '08 recently graduated with highest honors from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Davie, FL, followed by completion of internship at St. Petersburg General Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL. Subsequently, Dr. Leveritt graduated from her dermatology residency at Wellington Regional Medical Center, in Wellington, FL. Dr. Leveritt will be practicing out of our Vero and Sabastian offices in South Florida.
The Coral Gables Community Foundation has named Karelia Martinez Carbonell, D.P.A. '03 chair of the development committee.Ms. Martinez Carbonell serves as the chair of the communications committee of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Miami chapter

Terrall Moore, D.O. '96 has joined the staff of emergency department physicians with Singing River Hospital and Ocean Springs Hospital. Liu received his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and performed his residency at York Hospital in Pennsylvania. Moore received his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Florida and did his residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in New Jersey.
Paige Marketing Communications Group, Inc. President and CEO Nancy Pattarini, Ph.D. '11 was recently elected to the position of vice president/treasurer of the Issue Management Council (IMC). In this leadership role, she is responsible for helping to ensure the financial and operational success of the organization, as well as promoting the advancement of issue management as a strategic management function. Pattarini also will be participating in the IMC's upcoming forum, "Anticipating the Future: Forward Planning Tools for Issue Management," to be held Nov. 14 and 15 at Shell International in London, UK. She will join industry leaders as they share recommended insights and best practices for addressing some of the world's most pressing concerns: Shell International on The Future of Energy, IBM Corporation using technology for a Smarter Planet, AT&T saving lives when they say "It Can Wait" to text messaging behind the wheel. J.P. Morgan has hired Chad E. Slaughter, J.D. '99 as executive director in the High New Worth group. He will be located in Indianapolis. He earned a bachelor of science degree in business from Marian University and earned his juris doctorate at Nova Southeastern University.
Scott Aaron Slivka, J.D. '10 has joined Conrad Scherer as an associate. He was a law clerk with the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.
Harry Tapias, J.D. '12 has been named Underwater Dive Bar vice president of marine and environmental awareness and education.
Tanya Terry, M.S. '04 has been hired as clinical coordinator for the Radiologic Technology Program at Vol State. She was previously clinical coordinator and instructor for Keiser University in Miami, Fla.
Prior to that, she was clinical coordinator, clinical supervisor and instructor for the Professional Training Centers in Miami.
Lester Towell, Ed.D. '12 associate professor of computer information systems at Howard Payne University, completed a Doctor of Education in Instructional Technology and Distance Education degree from Nova Southeastern University in June. His dissertation title was "Factors that Affect Instructors' Intent to Use Online, On-Demand Lecture Capture."
